Robber sentenced to 15 years in prison

A 23-year-old man was sentenced, at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court, to 15 years imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday, July 28.

Vusi Sizwe Mbuyisa and his accomplices, who have not been arrested, went into a business in the Benoni CBD on March 24 and threatened staff members with a knife demanding money.

The group then fled the scene, but Mbuyisa was caught.

When he was searched, the victims’ cellphones were found in his possession.

He was arrested and detained at the Benoni SAPS.

The acting station commander, Col Martin van Nieuwenhuizen, applauded WO Richard Mazibuko for his hard work and dedication.
