Four suspected drug dealers arrested

A tavern was closed down and four suspected drug dealers were arrested with drugs to the value of approximately R6 000, on August 13.

The EMPD and SAPS joined forces in the crime-prevention operation, which was conducted from the early morning into the night.

The men arrested with the drugs were found with dagga, tik, nyaope and cocaine, on properties along Elston Avenue, Western Extension.

“One tavern operating without a licence was shut down and liquor to the value of R10 000 seized,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.

The arrested drug dealers, whose ages are between 24 and 30, were charged at the Benoni Police Station and were expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Friday, August 14.

The seized liquor was also booked in at the Benoni Police Station.
