The Benoni police cluster, in a joint operation with the EMPD and Gautrans female officers, conducted road blocks on the Daveyton and Heidelburg roads on August 20.
During the three-hour operation, the officers searched 360 motor vehicles and 624 people, issued 16 summonses for expired disks, one unroadworthy vehicle was impounded and one suspect was arrested for being in possession of fake DVDs.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the purpose of the operation was to make an impact on the community during Women’s Month.
The person arrested was detained at the Benoni Police Station.
