Join oldest club in Benoni

Being part of the oldest club in Benoni means taking pride in your town.

What started off as a gentlemen’s club, in November, 1906, became a place where members of the Benoni Constitutional Club would go to create friendships, play games and spend time getting to know their fellow community members.

The club held an open day at their premises in the Benoni CBD, on September 19, to canvass for new members.

Playing an active role for almost 100 years, the club has evolved over time, with women becoming part of the membership to keep up with the times.

The club has hosted a number of prestigious snooker tournaments, weddings and functions, with Bible and burial societies also using it as the selected venue of choice to hold their meetings.

To preserve the culture of the club, chairperson Peter Verrall said they would consider upgrading the facilities.

“I joined the club 50 years ago and seeing it evolve has been great,” he added.
