Appeal to conserve water
Residents and businesses in Benoni have been urged to use water sparingly to minimise chances of weak water pressure.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) made this appeal following higher water demand amid a week of hot temperatures.
“Consumers in high lying areas may have noticed a drop in their water pressure, especially during peak hours when the demand for water is high,” said EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“In an effort to cool down, we have found that consumers utilise more water to fill up swimming pools and conduct activities like irrigating their gardens and crops.
“This has led to the levels in the reservoirs feeding these areas dropping, and thus, putting strain on the supply to high lying areas.”
Areas currently affected by low water pressure include Brentwood Park, Bredell, Benoni Agricultural Holdings, the Benoni CBD and Lakefield.
