According to Brig Poobalan Subbiah, Benoni SAPS acting cluster commander, five men broke open the door of a room the home owners’ domestic worker lives in.
“They demanded money and took R3 500 from the domestic worker and used her keys to gain entrance into the main house,” he said.
The domestic worker was taken to the main house, where the owners were sleeping.
The couple was woken up, held at gun point and tied with electrical cords.
The men took laptops, projectors, jewellery, cellphones, R600 and a bank card with the pin.
Two of the suspects were armed with firearms and another two were armed with knives.
A case of house robbery has been opened at the Benoni Police Station.
No arrests have been made.
