UPDATE: Police nab Brentwood Park house robbery suspect after following tracks

Police have arrested one of the five men believed to be involved in a house robbery in Brentwood Park this morning (October 9).

Five robbers entered the house, which is in an estate on Dickinson Road, at 3am after breaking open the door of a room the home owners’ domestic worker lives in.

“They demanded money and took R3 500 from the domestic worker and used her keys to gain entrance into the main house,” said Brig Poobalan Subbiah, Benoni SAPS acting cluster commander.

The domestic worker was taken to the main house, where the owners were sleeping.

The couple was woken up, held at gun point and tied-up with electrical cords.

Capt Alie van den Berg, leader of the Benoni cluster task team, said he and his team followed shoe prints from the scene to an informal settlement on Van Wyk Road.
