Speed hump backlog to be addressed
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has started addressing a backlog of 700 speed humps that the municipality is currently facing.

EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe confirmed that the municipality currently has a backlog of 700 requests for speed humps to be built within the metro.
In the newspaper dated October 30, the City Times reported on Unathi Madonsela (7), who died after he was run over on Jenkins Road, Crystal Park, on October 20.
His parents, Patrick Ndlovu and Khanyisile Madonsela, felt their son may have survived the incident had the road had speed humps.
Madonsela said she signed a petition for speed humps to be built on the road in June.
Clr Stefanie Kruger, of Ward 24, said her ward committee has asked the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) on six occasions to build speed humps on Jenkins Road.
The first application was made on April 24, with the last on September 28.
It was later discovered that the intended department did not receive the requests.
“The delays with implementation were experienced because of delays in procuring service providers,” said EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“This matter has been resolved and instructions to perform work has been issued for the said backlog.”
