Police commemorate 16 Days of Activism
Police did their part in support of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

This is an international awareness campaign that runs from November 25 to December 10.
- Benoni Police Station
On November 25, Benoni SAPS communication members, social crime prevention, jointly with iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre and community patrollers walked around the Benoni CBD, educating the community on the purpose of the campaign and distributing pamphlets.
- Daveyton Police Station
On November 26, the Daveyton SAPS, with the support of the EMPD, South African National Council on Alcoholism (Sanca), Community Policing Forum (CPF), Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC) and Real Men Movement mounted a door-to-door campaign in the Gabon informal settlement, Daveyton.
Men and women were educated on issues of domestic violence and child abuse, while children were given teddy bears.
- Etwatwa Police Station
On November 27, Etwatwa SAPS members, in conjunction with Ekurhuleni social workers and iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre commemorated the day by educating the community of Kopie Motebang about women and child abuse.
- Crystal Park Police Station
Together with VEC, community patrollers, the Pastors’ Forum, Youth Desk and Gautrans held a roadblock at the corner of Cloverdene and Putfontein roads, on November 30.
They also handed out pamphlets to motorists.
- Actonville Police Station
On December 2, Actonville SAPS, in partnership with Angels Pre-School, handed over certificates and toys to the pupils, while WO Lucky Ndlovu, from the North Rand K9 unit, demonstrated to the pupils how police search for drugs with his dog Ivarn.
They also visited the Actonville Hostel, on Styx Road, to educate the residents about domestic violence and crime prevention tips.
- Putfontein Police Station
The station will host a door-to-door campaign on December 9.
