Police receive 2010 World Cup support medals

Members of the Benoni SAPS cluster proudly received their Soccer World Cup 2010 support medals on December 9 and 10, at the Benoni cluster office, in Northmead.

Benoni SAPS cluster station commanders who received their 2010 soccer world cup support medals on December 9, are back (from left): Col Friedl Jonck, Lieut Col Jan Dimpane, Lieut Col Belinda Motaung and Capt Delisiwe Motaung. The medals became available only now.

These medals were awarded to members of the SAPS who delivered outstanding service and who served for the duration of the sporting event – a month from June 11, 2010 – and members who displayed irreproachable character and exemplary conduct.

During the ceremony, the police were encouraged to continue working together to achieve a common goal: to create a safe and secure environment for the community.

The medals were given to station commanders, detectives, Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC) members and reservist.
