CPF needs extra hands
Hundreds of people are needed to join the ranks of the Benoni Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Benoni CPF executive chairperson Reza Patel urged people to sign up, when he spoke at the CPF’s quarterly meeting at Benoni West School, on February 18.
He said there are several hundred Benoni CPF members, but more are needed, especially in operational roles.
Patel said about 140 patrollers are needed across the seven sectors.
“The CPF does not dictate to its members what they must do or not do,” said Patel, referring to the amount of different roles people can fulfill in the organisation.
“It says we want your involvement, we invite it.
“So, if you want to become a patroller, you do that. If you want to go out there and drive around and pass leads across, you can do that. If you are a shopkeeper, just tell us what you see that is suspicious.”
Although you do not need to be a member of the CPF to pass on information on criminal activity, Patel said members who belong to the CPF do so in an organisation recognised in the law.
