Benonian sets big target for animal lovers
A goal of collecting one million items (parcels, bags, boxes) of animal food has been set by a Benoni Small Farms-based animal lover.
Tokkie Toka mentioned that 15 animal sanctuaries in Gauteng have already joined as beneficiaries of the proposed collection, including Pug Rescue, in Benoni North Agricultural Holdings, and Pet Rescue, in Putfontein.
“It’s absolutely amazing that companies and individuals out there still want to help us,” said Cheryl Gaw, president of Pug Rescue.
Fiona Stewart, president of Pet Rescue, expressed her gratitude to the organisers of the project.
Toka hopes to involve a number of schools, where he can ask the staff, pupils and their parents for donations.
