Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said Botha was discovered unconscious in his car parked on the side of the road.
Botha went missing for the second time in six days.
It is believed that he left his home in Selection Park, Springs, on the morning of March 7 but he never arrived at the Benoni Police Station, where he works.
He first disappeared on March 2, also shortly after leaving home for work, and was found later that evening in Sundra, by the Sundra CPF.
His wife, Trudie, has confirmed that Botha was brought home safely and is currently in hospital for observation.
She could not provide more details on which hospital he was admitted to or the circumstances around his going missing.
