A closer look at Olivia King

Local author Olivia King has recently published a book called 'Feathers for a lady'.

The book takes a look at the life of a cross-dresser and the relations he has with the world around him.

King has written eight books ranging from crime fiction, romance comedy, fiction and fact/fiction.

A qualified English and Fine Arts graduate, King has also had teaching experience in the East Rand and Grahamstown.

“When I was in Grahamstown I taught the people from the locations how to sew,” said King.

This began her journey in making wedding and matric dance dresses.

After seeing an advert in the paper, she then approached the society of cross-dressers and began working for them as a secretary for four years.

King mentions becoming great friends with some of the members from the society.

“They were so good to me,” said King.

The author draws inspiration for her books through her art and life experiences.
