Man collapses and dies outside doctor’s practice
A patient collapsed and died after walking out the door of a private doctor’s practice.
The man was allegedly at the doctor to get medicine.
The incident occurred in Northmead, on Thursday, April 7.
According to Kelly Burchell, ER24 spokesperson, the man (34) was stung by a wasp the previous day.
“He came to the doctor this morning to get medicine, as he wasn’t feeling well,” Burchell said on the day of the incident.
“When we (ER24) got there, the staff of the practice said they had been trying to resuscitate the man for about 40 minutes.”
Burchell said the patient was declared dead at about 11am, roughly 45 minutes after the first ER24 paramedic had arrived.
“We tried everything to resuscitate him, but nothing helped,” added Burchell.
She added the police arrived on scene for investigations into the cause of death.
Benoni SAPS could not comment at the time of publication.
The practice was approached for comment, but could not divulge any information due to patient-doctor confidentiality.
