Decomposed body surfaces

Police request the help of community members who have lost family or friends, to identify an unknown body which was found floating in a stream in New Modder on Thursday (June 2) morning.

“Our police went to the scene after they received information from a passer-by about a body,” Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni police spokesperson said.

The Benoni police arrived on the scene at around 9am to remove the body which was already decomposed.

“Because the body was decomposed, it is difficult for us to say whether the person was a man or woman,” Actonville Police Station spokesperson, WO Ramathakhi Maqabe said.

An inquest docket was opened at the Benoni Police Station and the cause of death is still unknown.
