Sassa: November payments will happen before local elections

Take note of the revised payment dates.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced revised payment dates for November, ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections on November 4.

“The revised schedule follows consultations with various stakeholders to ensure the efficient and secure administration of grant payments, with minimal disruption during the election period,” an official statement from the agency read.

The approved dates are as follows:

• Older persons grant, October 30
• Disability grant, November 2
• Children’s grants, November 3

The adjustment is intended to support the smooth administration of payments and prevent delays, ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner.

Grant beneficiaries whose status is currently under review are reminded to respond to official communication and attend in-person appointments when requested.

November 5 has been set aside for payment to beneficiaries under review.

SASSA urged beneficiaries not to visit its offices unnecessarily, saying it would process payments in line with the November schedule.
