Pellet gun costs cat a leg

A cat’s hind leg had to be amputated after the animal was apparently shot with air gun pellets several times.

The cat was taken to a veterinarian by its owners on April 30, after it returned to its Northmead home with several wounds.

An X-ray image taken of the cat showed at least seven objects which are suspected to be air gun pellets.

The owners contacted The Animal Guardians (Tag) to find out if there have been any similar cases reported recently.

Annalise Jungmann, from Tag, said some comments on the Facebook post showed similar incidents had occurred in the area, recently.

The animal welfare organisation is asking members of the public to come forward with any information regarding irresponsible pellet gun owners in Northmead.

Anyone with information can contact Lauren Labuschagne on 062 641 3475 or Jungmann on 076 330 5736.

The owners of the cat could not be reached at the time of publishing, neither could their street of residence be confirmed.
