The body was found on September 10 at around 4pm.
Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson, Capt Ramothakhi Maqabe said the man was found by a member of the community.
“The body was badly decomposed and it is unclear how old the man is,” said Maqabe.
It is also unclear how the man died.
An inquest docket was opened at the Etwatwa Police Station.
Police are requesting members of the community, who may have information to help identify the man, to come to the police station or contact the station on 011 746 8900.
