Police recover over R800 000 worth of stolen goods

Benoni Flying Squad officers WO Riaan Nel and WO Mokgadi Mpede arrested two men for being in possession of suspected stolen goods valued at R800 000.

They seized clothing and bedding.

The arrests were made on October 5 on a plot in Brentwood Park, at about 1am.

Benoni Flying Squad spokesperson Sgt Angel Mkwanazi said the officers were told about a vehicle that had been hijacked on the N12 the previous night.

“When police followed up on the information they arrested two men, aged 53 and 22,” said Mkwanazi.

“Police recovered goods with an estimated value of R800 000.”

Both men were charged for hijacking and being in possession of suspected stolen goods.

Police are investigating.
