A baby boy was found dead on a dumping site next to the N12 informal settlement at about noon today (February 22).
Municipal workers found the baby wrapped in plastic bags, as they were cleaning the area.

Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Const Itumeleng Maduna said the 28-year-old mother of the child was taken to the Crystal Park Police Station.
Maduna explained an unknown community member phoned for an ambulance on Monday as the mother was in labour.
“Apparently, when the ambulance arrived paramedics found only a woman without a baby,” she said.
Police are investigating.
A case of concealment of birth has been opened.
