SPCA confiscates dogs in Rynfield

SPCA to the rescue in Rynfield

Two miniature dachshunds were confiscated from a Rynfield residence by the Benoni SPCA on Monday.

The owners were initially served with a written warning because of the concerning conditions the animals were living in.

After failing to respond to the legal notice, Benoni SPCA inspector Shiven Bodasing and his team obtained a court order to enter the property and remove the dogs.

The oldest dachshund was found thin, weak, deaf and blind which may be due to illness or lack of food.

The younger dachshund is currently suffering from an undiagnosed condition and symptoms include an enlarged abdomen and anaemia.

On Tuesday morning the owners attempted to claim back their animals from the Benoni SPCA and were denied the request.

The SPCA will be laying criminal charges of animal cruelty against the owners.
