EMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said all is on track for the relocation of the EMPD precinct in July next year.
The current precinct, situated on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Tom Jones Street, will be relocated to Northmead.

“The process is ongoing – a consultant has been appointed and plans have been approved and a Bill of Quantities (BOQ) has been prepared,” said Kgasago.
“The contractor will be appointed to start work on site in October.”
According to Kgasago, plans have been delayed due to various factors, including inclement weather and administrative glitches.
“The completion date is scheduled for June 30, next year,” he said.
There are two EMPD precincts in Benoni – one in the CBD and the other in Bromberg.
“The reason for the move to Northmead is a strategic one aimed at enhancing the services rendered by the precinct,” Kgasago previously told the City Times.
“The precinct aims to provide a fully-functional service to the community of Ekurhuleni, with the enforcement of municipal by-laws, crime prevention, traffic policing and council security, as the key performance areas.”
Currently, the precinct offers services including:
• Traffic fine enquiries
• Complaints reporting
• Payment of fines
• Funeral escort applications
• Applications for marches or demonstrations
• Accident reports
• General law enforcement, including by-laws
Operating hours on weekdays are from 8am to 3.30pm and the office is closed on weekends.
