Benoni SAPS arrests man with suspected stolen goods

A case of being in possession of suspected stolen items was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

A man believed to be in his late 20s was arrested for being in possession of suspected goods on October 25 on Ninth Avenue, Northmead.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Captain Nomsa Sekele said the man was caught red-handed by the police with a steel manhole cover frame which he was going to sell at a scrap yard.

Sekele warns scarp yards not to purchase these steel manhole covers or frames because scrap yard owners can also be charged as this doesn’t comply with the secondhand goods act.

“If someone comes to your scrap yard with these items contact your nearest police station or 10111,” said Sekele.

A case of being in possession of suspected stolen items was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

The arrest was made by WO Thulani Sithole and WO Kenny Magagula.
