Fatal collision leaves one dead

Two accidents on Great North Road, both within the space of 24 hours, claims the life of one

One person was killed and another sustained serious injuries when their vehicle overturned at the intersection of Great North and High roads on December 7.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman, emergency services were called to the scene at around 9pm.

“One male sustained very serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to hospital for urgent care,” explained Dollman.

“Another male sustained severe injuries and died on the scene.

“He was in his 30s.

“As per reports the vehicle rolled into a traffic light.”

According to Dollman, provincial ambulance services, as well as the police and fire department, were also present on the scene.

“Our paramedics went with the patient to a hospital in another ambulance and also completed the medical and legal documentation and handed that over to the police.

“Reports from the scene alleged that only one vehicle was involved in the accident.

In a related incident, another collision occurred at the intersection between Great North Road and Cloudy Street on Saturday at around 11.15am

Only minor injuries were reported.

In another reported incident, a crash occurred on Saturday at around 7.45pm on Atlas Road near the N12.

No injuries were reported.

Netcare 911 has urged motorists to drive carefully, especially during wet weather conditions.
