Hijacked car abandoned in Barcelona in Daveyton

The recovered vehicle was towed to the SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni for safekeeping and further investigations.

A Daveyton woman claims she was hijacked and abducted in Daveyton on January 12.

According to EMPD Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, she was let out of the car after several hours after which she then contacted the metro police.

“A woman driving a red Hyundai i20 reported that she was hijacked and abducted on Saturday night (January 12). The perpetrators drove her around Daveyton for some time before she was let out of the car.

“EMPD Equestrian Unit members found the car in Barcelona informal settlement, in Daveyton, the next morning.

“Its movements were detected around the Chris Hani informal settlement via GPS coordinates but the car was only found abandoned next to an unoccupied house in Barcelona at around 8am the next morning.”
