Hijackers make getaway with Mercedes-Benz

The suspects fled with the vehicle, cellphones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A case of hijacking was opened at the Putfontein Police Station after two men were hijacked in Gumbi Street towards Mayfield on May 17 around 10am.

Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi said the two men driving a silver Mercedes-Benz ML were approached by two men driving a white BMW who threatened them with firearms.

“The duo instructed the two men to get out of the vehicle and to lie down, they then searched them,” said Ubisi.

“As they were being searched, two other suspects showed up and got into the Mercedes-Benz ML and drove off.”

The suspects fled with the vehicle, cellphones, jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to visit their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
