Rape
Twenty-five-year-old Lesotho national Theko Talimo pleaded guilty to raping an eight-year-old in Daveyton in July 2016. The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment by Magistrate Ian Cox on August 5.
Attempted murder
Gcabane Ntsobo received seven years’ imprisonment for attempted murder in Daveyton. The 26-year-old pled guilty to the charge for the crime that was committed in April and was sentenced on August 6.
Assault and attempted murder
Sthembiso Tshabalala was charged with assault and attempted murder after an incident in Barcelona in September 2018. The 21-year-old was sentenced to 30 days’ imprisonment (assault) plus eight years’ imprisonment (attempted murder).
Housebreaking, theft and intent to steal
Magistrate Mitzi Schutte sentenced 19-year-old Prayer Shiri to six years’ imprisonment plus an additional 12 months’ imprisonment, which will run concurrently, for a housebreaking and theft which occurred in March. The Zimbabwean will be deported after the count one sentence expires.
