Suspect arrested in Mayfield for possession of stolen items

According to Ubisi, the suspect has already appeared in Daveyton Magistrate’s Court.

The Putfontein SAPS arrested one suspect on August 13 for being in possession of stolen items.

“Putfontein police were on patrol around Mayfield Mall,” said Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi.

“They spotted a suspicious looking male carrying a bag near the unoccupied toilets.

“The police asked to search him and found in his possession door locks and handles the suspect is believed to have stolen from the unoccupied toilets.

According to Ubisi, the police also found a screwdriver and knife in his possession.

“The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Putfontein Police Station. “The community of Mayfield has been complaining for some time now about the toilets that are not occupied.

“They complain about crimes such as murder, rape and robbery in that area, especially at night and early hours of the morning when they either go to work or come from work.

“They want action to be taken by their leaders in their areas.”
