Two elderly women robbed

The suspects were wearing dark clothes and balaclavas.

Two cases of house robbery were opened at the Benoni Police Station, after two units were robbed at different times by four suspects armed with a firearm, knife and screwdriver.

According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele, the first incident occurred at about 1am and the second at 3am.

In the first incident, the 77-year-old complainant alleged that she was asleep when she was awakened by suspects in her room. They told her not to make a noise or she would be killed.

Her hands and feet were tied with cable ties and her room was ransacked. TVs and jewellery were taken and she was locked inside her bedroom.

In the second incident, a 95-year-old complainant also alleged that she was asleep at her place when she was awakened by the sound of footsteps in the passage.

Suddenly, she was lit up with a torch and she saw three suspects entering her room. They tied her hands with cable ties, ransacked her room and took jewellery, cellphone and TV from the lounge. The suspects were wearing dark clothes and balaclavas.
