A 35-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during a crime prevention stop and search on October 30 in New Modder around 10.40am.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said police saw two suspicious-looking men standing next to a white BMW.

“When police approached the duo, they ran off, but one of them was apprehended,” said Sekele.
The man was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Sekele said further investigations revealed that the man is wanted in connection to eight cases of which one of them is an armed robbery in Benoni.
