Petrol station unites the community of Crystal Park through a 5km walk
Sector One CPF and the Crystal Park SAPS were present on the day to create awareness on social crime prevention.
Crystal Park Caltex recently held their first 5km big walk race which they plan on making an annual event.
The race was aimed at giving back to the community and embracing social cohesion. The theme was Wellness, and on the day, Dr Aslam provided free eye screening and Mary Moodley Clinic conducted free health tests, including HIV, blood pressure and glucose.
Guest speaker MEC for infrastructure Tasneem Motara mentioned that it is always good to create a space for community members of all ages to come together and get to know each other.

“This creates a platform for people to come together because our different lifestyles keep us busy.

“Crystal Park is really quiet and has little to no activity and this is great,” she said.
Ashraf Moosa, owner of Caltex, said that it has been a long aspiration to do something for the community and once he shared his idea, people jumped on board.
“I can’t take credit for this is all through the hard work of my manager and team.
“We are also grateful to everyone who contributed to this.”

Everyone was entertained by the singing and dancing competition with lots of gifts given to the children, and the top-three winners of the walk received vouchers.
