No evidence of foul play in case of Lakefield stop-sign cat
The Benoni SPCA has confirmed that the cat found on the stop sign in Lakefield on March 10 had been dead for a while.
The image of the cat taped to a stop sign had sparked outrage in the community and was shared all over social media.
Chairperson of the SPCA, Shelly Owens, said many thought this was a sick prank.

“When we saw the animal it was in quite a state, but there were no outward signs of foul play.”
She added that the animal could possibly have been run over and killed.
“We hope that the owner of the animal finds closure,” said Owens.
