A 22-year-old teacher from a local high school was arrested for rape by the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FSC) on March 10 at the school.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that on March 2 around 3.30pm, the teacher raped a 15-year-old girl at the school.
“The girl then went to a place of safety where she resides and told her friend what happened,” said Sekele.

“Her friend then advised her to report the incident to their house mother and it was then reported to the police.”
A case of rape was opened at the Benoni Police Station and the teacher was detained.
He is expected to appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
