A 17-year-old girl was raped on March 25 at Mayfield Minawe Extension Five in Putfontein around 8am.
Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said it is alleged that the victim heard a knock at the door. When she opened there was an unknown man who told her that he was there to check the electricity meter.

“The man then went around the house, pretending to be looking for the meter box. When he said he couldn’t find the meter box, the girl wrote down the meter number and gave it to him,” said Ubisi.
When the girl tried to close the door the suspect entered the house.
Ubisi said the man threatened the victim and told her to cooperate or he would assault her.
“The man told the victim that he was part of the OVL group, which is known to be terrorising the residents of Daveyton and surrounding areas.
“He told the girl that the group members were waiting outside the gate and they know where she goes to school.
“The man then raped her repeatedly and afterwards he ordered the girl to close her eyes as he was exiting the house.”
Police urge residents not to let strangers into their homes without asking them for identification cards or documents to ensure that they are from that company.
Anyone who knows of this man or his whereabouts is urged to contact the station on 011 845 6315 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
