Mayfield business robbed

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money and airtime.

The Putfontein SAPS are investigating a case of business robbery after a local shop was robbed around 2am on June 1 at Mayfield Extension One.

Spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said it is alleged that the victim was asleep with his two brothers when they heard a loud bang on the wall of the shop.

“Suddenly, they saw three unknown men wearing face masks inside the shop. Two of the men were armed with firearms,” said Ubisi.

“One of the robbers fired a warning shot and demanded cash, and then the other robber shot the victim’s brother in the upper body.”

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money and airtime.

The brother was taken to a local hospital.
