Latest fund-raiser for the Timm’s

For every R200 donated until December 5, they will plant one tree.

In honour of Connor Timm grading to his green belt in karate, the Timm’s have decided to make their latest fund-raiser a ‘going green’ event to aid in making the community go green.

Connor, who practices karate for the Benoni Tenshinkan Karate Dojo, was originally invited to compete in the 2020 International World Championships with his Rynfield dojo in Red Hook, New York, USA, which was supposed to take place on July 2 and 3.

Due to Covid-19, the championship was postponed to 2021 and Connor still has hopes of attending this one.

“I try to keep thinking in a positive way, at least we have more time to raise the money,” said Melanie Timm.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Connor and I really want to do anything I can to get him overseas.”

The Timm’s have already raised a total of R30 000 and need to reach their target of R100 000 before the championship which will still take place in New York next year, possibly June or July (date to still be confirmed).

For every R200 donated to them, until December 5, they will plant one tree.

The trees will be bought as the R200s start flooding in with just over half the R200 going to Connor’s trip and the rest going towards the purchasing of the trees.

After December 5, the venue, date and time for the planting of the trees will be announced.

The Timm’s are asking the community to assist them in making Connor’s dreams come true.
