Head boy Manie van der Walt said: “The first exam wasn’t as hard as the record exam, I found it much easier.

“If I had to give my advice to next year’s matrics it would be to handle your obstacles as best as you can. Don’t be scared. Take it as a chance to be a better you.”

Charney Breytenbach, head girl, said: “I am a bit stressed but I am taking it one day at a time.”

JP Swart, deputy head boy, said: “Prepping for finals has been difficult and trying to find the motivation has been hard due to the pandemic and lockdown. But having a school that cares, that pushes hard work and helps motivate you wherever they can has been the greatest help. I summarised after each record exam and then started to study each subject individually. I hope it all pays off.”

Hesed Shiburi, head boy, said he has been coming to school every day to ensure he has the space, time and focus to study for finals.

“The teachers designated me and a few classmates a venue to come to school daily and study in. I find this helps me a lot more to focus on my studies being within the school environment. They even gave me a set of keys so I could come study on weekends. I thank Benoni High for all they have done for me to motivate and assist me in getting to the finals. I feel confident.”
