The Apricot Tree is in need of help

The centre has grown over the years, and now provides a mix of therapy, schooling, and general care that some 30 children and young adults need in order to achieve the best that they each can in their lives.

December is around the corner and the Apricot Tree Centre is in need of help to bring smiles to their little one’s faces.

The Northmead-based NPO is specifically aimed at providing care and support to children with severe needs.

The centre has grown over the years, and now provides a mix of therapy, schooling, and general care that some 30 children and young adults need in order to achieve the best that they each can in their lives.

Due to Covid-19, the school could not host their annual fund-raisers like the golf day, ladies tea and cycling challenges, so they found an alternative.

12 Days of Christmas fund-raiser

This fund-raiser will work in the form of raffle tickets being sold during November. With the purchase of a ticket you need to pick a number between one and 12 and this will give you a chance to win a prize each day for 12 days, starting from December 1.

Visit the Apricot Tree on www.apricottree.co.za to find out how to buy raffle tickets.

How else can you help?

• Spread the word about Apricot Tree Centre and the work they do so others can contribute.

• Make a donation using GivenGain, Payfast and/or EFT.

• Sponsor a learner’s centre fees – there is a small waiting list of learners who currently cannot afford the full centre fees.

• Donate prizes for fund-raisers, such as the 12 Days of Christmas.

• Host a fund-raiser.

• Volunteer your services.

Apricot Tree has focused over the years on fund-raising to offset the sizeable costs associated with the care for such diverse special needs children and now young adults as well.

They have also managed to grow and provide the care levels needed over the years with the aid of dedicated staff, committed parents and families, and with ongoing support from a group of amazingly supportive people within the broader community.

Apart from the negative impact of Covid-19, the Apricot Tree continued to encourage and support the young adults who are raising their own funds in order to get the vocational training projects up and running.
