Boksburg gospel artist Franco van Zyl officially released his latest Christian worship song, Bozrah (The Fold of Peace), on July 31.

Written by Matt Stern, the song serves as Bozrah Gesinskerk’s official theme, capturing the congregation’s heart, vision, calling, and spiritual identity through music.

The production was once again handled by Vincent Gordon, who has also produced Franco’s previous musical productions.

At the heart of Bozrah (The Fold of Peace) is the biblical calling found in John 21:15–17, where Jesus instructs Peter to care for His sheep: “Feed My sheep.”

Franco explained that the imagery of Bozrah is particularly meaningful.

“The song presents the church as a place of refuge, a safe and spiritual stronghold for the ‘sheep’ who may have been driven away, rejected, forgotten, or wounded.

“Through its message, the song seeks to remind listeners that there is still a place where they can find peace, belonging, and hope in Christ.”

He added that in less than a month, the song surpassed 2 000 streams.

“For an independent South African Gospel release, this early response is an encouraging indication that the message of the song is reaching people beyond the congregation itself.”

Franco describes the production as something very different from the music he has created previously.

Rather than approaching it simply as another musical project, he felt compelled to follow the direction he believed God was placing before him.

“The decision that led me to record this song was simply being obedient. The sound was something completely different compared to all the other productions I have done in the past.”

As a South African Afrikaans gospel artist, Franco believes that the song brings a fresh and distinctive element to his musical journey.

Bozrah (The Fold of Peace) marks his 34th production, a significant milestone in his career.
