All they want for Christmas is R55 for a special meal

R55 is the cost of a meal for every individual.

They don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing they need, and they don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree because all they want for Christmas is R55.

If you are a Mariah Carey fan then you would have immediately picked up that we tweaked her song, All I want for Christmas is you, for Kids Haven.

“We are winding down on a year like no other and look forward to ending 2020 with a wonderful Christmas meal for our children and families in the community,” said Sam Mokgopha, managing director and Moira Simpson, member of the board.

“This December we are asking for just one more act of generosity – please help us with your donation. Just R55 will put a #7Colours plate in front of a child this December.

“Traditionally, the #7Colours meal is a celebration meal of meat or chicken, potato or pap with relish and gravy surrounded by the bright colours of fresh vegetables prepared in many different ways. It is literally like eating the rainbow.

“Kids Haven is continuing to deliver food parcels containing essential groceries but it is our heartfelt wish to deliver the ingredients of one special Christmas meal for families to enjoy together.

“We want every family to take a much-needed break to sit together and share something extraordinary.”

Community Hours

Any children who are still needing to earn community hours can create a dessert pack of two boxes of jelly, big tin of fruit and one litre of ready made custard.

“We will deliver these dessert packs to compliment the #7colours Christmas meal,” the duo said.

“Thank you for joining with Kids Haven to bring families together with a rainbow meal this Christmas.”
