C Sharp Music Academy presented its 21st anniversary show recently at Emperors Palace and it was one to ‘just believe’.
The singing school in Farrarmere is for children of school-going age and titled their show Just Believe.
A concert is hosted annually to showcase the talent of the young artists.
The learners are given the opportunity to visit a recording studio and get the experience of recording their songs onto a CD.
All the learners participate in a solo and a few group items, and most of them also have back-up dancers performing with them.
“This year was particularly tough and challenging as most of our initial preparation was done via Zoom sessions and although our concert date had to be changed five times, I didn’t want to give up so easily,” said Lizette de Klerk, teacher and owner of the academy.
“I felt the learners needed something exciting to look forward to and to work for after the difficult year they had to endure.
“These shows have become the highlight of our academy and it was definitely worth pressing through all the challenges to still make it happen.
“We had awesome choreographers such as Maritza van Staden, Clarissa Marais and Yolandi de Vasconcelos [who] had to try and create magic on stage under extra difficult circumstances this year.
“The Barnyard theatre is a fantastic venue and besides giving the children that amazing opportunity to perform on a professional stage it creates a very relaxed atmosphere for the audience from whom we were honored to receive positive feedback again this year.”
