Berlin Wall pieces find new homes

The one buyer said she is going to mount them and give the mounting to her father as a birthday gift

The Northmead couple selling remnants of the Berlin Wall were delighted to find local residents interested in their artefacts after their story appeared on page two of the City Times dated December 4.

Peter Knottenbelt and his wife, Lucy, had these broken bits of history on sale at a recent car boot sale at the Bunny Park, and agreed the newspaper could run an article to find interested buyers.

“We found good homes for seven of the pieces. The one buyer said she is going to mount them and give the mounting to her father as a birthday gift. He lived in East Germany and lost a lot of family members during the war. She is hoping this will become a family heirloom,” Peter said.

“The article also drew lots of interest from my gym friends and others I met on the street.

“We would like to thank the City Times for their support in finding good homes for this part of history. The article was well written and very informative for the Benoni public.”
