Colin House children enjoy refurbished play area

She thanked all those who jumped on board to make her vision a reality and added that the children will love the new area.

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare (GBCW) recently received an upgrade in their old play area at Colin House with help from Macsteel Trading, which supplied the materials and granted the contract to DTD Services Pty Ltd.

The growing business is part of Macsteel’s Usizo project that launched in 2015 and aimed at developing and supporting small businesses.

The refurbishing of the playground took six weeks to complete as some of the structures needed to be demolished.

Deon Bissen, owner of DTD Services, said this project was the first for their company and highlighted the importance of doing things for a good cause.

The company felt that it had to do more than what it was contracted to do as a way of giving back to the community.

“We have learnt a lot from this project, not only was it emotionally fulfilling but it will also bring big changes.

“We would like to thank Macsteel for bringing us on board and for their support, as there was never a time we needed something and it wasn’t supplied.”

Director of GBCW Vanessa Carelse said Macsteel had been an amazing partner and when she asked for assistance, they jumped on board and saw the vision she had for the children’s play area.

She thanked all those who jumped on board to make her vision a reality and added that the children will love the new area.
