The EMPD Anti-Cable Theft Unit Officers on a crime-prevention operation arrested a suspect in Daveyton on February 27.
They are on the lookout for two more suspects.
“Patrolling EMPD officers were stopped by security personnel from a private safekeeping enterprise at around 11.15pm on Turton Street,” said EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng.

“They were told about three suspects who were spotted nearby digging a trench. Officers responded promptly and two of the suspects managed to evade arrest.
The EMPD recovered a 10l empty bucket, hacksaw, two shovels, pick and a 1.2m damaged electrical copper cable, valued at R1 200.
“The suspect, facing charges of theft and tampering with essential services infrastructure, was taken to the Daveyton Police Station,” Mokheseng said.
