Still no justice for murdered teen

The Liverpool Secondary learner had dreams of becoming an air hostess or pilot after completing school.

It is almost four years later and there is still no justice for Actonville teenager Kirusha Padachy who died on May 26, 2017, after being stabbed twice in the chest.

Actonville SAPS spokesperson Capt Pheello Mothapo told the City Times no arrests have been made since the murder.
“Police are still investigating,” he said.

According to Kirusha’s father, Morgan Padachy, Kirusha was out with friends that night when they were approached by suspects who stabbed her and stole her cellphone at about 10pm.

“After numerous calls to the ambulance and police with no response, a couple from the community rushed her to Tambo Memorial Hospital,” he told the City Times in 2017.

“She was declared dead on arrival.

“The police arrived at the hospital at midnight to take statements and open a case.”

Mothapo confirmed in 2017 that a case of murder was opened at the Boksburg Police Station and would be transferred to Actonville Police Station.

When talking to the City Times this year, he said while the friends were on the scene, they cannot be witnesses because they did not see the suspects’ faces.

The police do, however, have one eye witness.

To date, the family has not found closure because the people who killed Kirusha have not been convicted for their crime.

“We are angry and sad most of the time,” Kirusha’s parents, Morgan, and Natasha Pillay said.

“Every Friday for us is a repeat of May 26, 2017.”

The Liverpool Secondary learner had dreams of becoming an air hostess or pilot after completing school.

Her parents described her as someone helpful, funny, had a great sense of humour and always considerate to others.

In memory of the teen, her parents and family members visit her gravesite.

“We talk about her, even on her birthday,” Morgan explained.

“Whoever said time heals – it is a lie.”

Kirusha lived with her mother at the time of her death but her parents only live one road away from each other.

“Not getting answers upsets us. The person who killed her does not deserve jail, they deserve a death penalty,” the grieving parents said.
