Kids Haven kids bounce into action

The City Times recently did an article appealing for sports coaches for Kids Haven. Their prayers were answered as they are now able to offer their children dance fusion, netball, running ball sports and soccer, as well as chess and mind developmental board games.
“This is part of the Kids Haven Bounce Back Together campaign, which was started to highlight the value of sport and physical activity in the lives of the children,” said fund-raising coordinator Susan Daly.
“Sport plays a major role in developing values such as leadership, team spirit, cooperation, discipline and concentration, all while children have fun.
“The children at Kids Haven aren’t able to get to the various sports grounds as it is logistically difficult for the organisation to transport them, which is why the plea for coaches came about.

“Through the BCT, Kids Haven called for suitable facilitators to join us once a week to host classes for the children,” said Daly.
“We welcome Dineo who will be running netball clinics, Ferguson running ball sports and soccer and Sibonelo who is coaching chess and encouraging board games to develop critical thinking.”

“This programme is initiated by Cheslyn Henry of the Cheslyn Henry School of Dance and Fitness,” she explained.
“Cheslyn selected Kids Haven as he has held dance classes here in 2019. He has been keen to return because the children enjoy the sessions so much.
“We are delighted to have appointed the coaches on a three-month term as well as having Cheslyn with us. Exciting times ahead.”
