Former Benonian wants to improve quality of life through her foundation

The former St Francis College learner shared her motto: “As you start, it’s not about doing great things; it’s about doing small things in a great way.”

Former Benoni resident Makentse Mampeule believes that finding your purpose offers a sense of direction, making the world a better place.

As we celebrate Women’s Month, Makentse encourages women to chase after their dreams and goals.

Makentse is the founder of the Rali and Makentse Mampeule (RMM) Foundation founded in 2019, with the aim of supporting local and international organisations to work towards achieving universal health coverage and improve health systems across the world.

The work of the foundation has allowed endless possibilities to improve the lives of about 200 families across South Africa. It focuses on four pillars: global health, tertiary education, charitable giving and property education.

The entrepreneur and philanthropist said to be part of making a positive difference, even if it’s just to one person, is the most rewarding part of running a foundation.

“I have always wanted my career to be impactful for the lives of others by choosing this path.

“Some of the lessons I learnt is that if you want anything done, do it yourself. In the world we live in today, love and kindness really do make the world a better place. Your actions speak louder than words, so what you do will influence others, not your words,” said Makentse.

The former St Francis College learner said her motto is to always remember: “As you start, it’s not about doing great things; it’s about doing small things in a great way.”

The stay-at-home mum of two boys also has a small candle business, which is very close to her heart.

In the past two years, the foundation has hosted a charitable annual high tea which supports various worthy causes annually.

“My vision for the foundation is to improve the quality of life and access to opportunity for marginalised communities across South Africa and the globe,” said Makentse.

“The biggest way one can support the foundation is by participating in our charitable annual high tea. In that way, this charitable event will grow and support those who are in need to better their lives in any way possible.”
