The 1st Benoni Sea Scouts organised and ran a Tour de Farrarmere for 60 Scouts, Cubs and the newest addition to the group, the Meerkats, recently.

The event was run on the same basis as the Tour de France, with the Scouts being broken into teams and doing various cycling stages through Farrarmere.

For the older Scouts, it was a 15km ride through Atlasville and Farrarmere. They had to stop at certain bases and were all competing for the coveted “yellow jersey”.

Organiser Karin Weeks said it was great to see all the Scouts out and about again after a long lockdown period.

“The weather was perfect and the park with the path down at Homestead Lake was ideal for the younger Cubs and Meerkats still using training wheels.

“This was the first event of its kind and will certainly become an annual event for 1st Benoni.”
