The Old Mutual Foundation’s 21 Acts of Goodness campaign, rolled out a matric support programme across South Africa.

The foundation chose B B Myataza Secondary School in Daveyton to launch the 21 Acts of Goodness campaign for 2021, which aims to help matriculants with university and NSFAS support, career guidance, psychosocial support, past exams papers and study guides, food relief and dignity packs.

MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi and his office attended the recent Gauteng launch.

The programme included strategic partners, implementers and enablers of the 21 Acts of Goodness campaign, such as the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Brand South Africa, Woza Matrics, Clement Maosa and Cathy Mohlahlana, programme director at B B Myataza Secondary School, to name a few.

The global pandemic has put a significant strain on the schooling curriculum with many learners being left destitute. Further, the pandemic and unrest have also presented psychological pressures on the livelihoods of society and matric learners facing pressures of writing their final exams and being allowed to further their studies and get into tertiary institutions.

Having started the 21 Acts of Goodness campaign in 2020, which was anchored on the values of Nelson Mandela, such as service, active citizenship and social activism, this year’s theme is #FlipTheScript, which allows the matriculants to control the narrative.
